La Servil 2021
The same happens with wines. When I come across a tremendously good wine during a tasting I often have difficulties to objectively taste the following one as the dominant notes of the former one tend to persist.
That is what happened with this La Servil from Bodegas Cerrón.
A 94% Monastrell mixed with some other small authoctone grapes such as Blanquilla or Rojal this is a powerful and seductive red, showing good ripe berries flavours deliciously spiced by fine freshly milled pepper. With very good integrated tannins it is quite soft in the palate not revealing the 14,5% alcohol that it has. Still, the wine still has a great ripe potential and I am looking forward to try it in about five years.
Interesting is also to come across the strong family connection of this winery. The entrance levels of it have quite fascinating labels which easily conquer most of my costumers while the higher ends have more subtle references to it such as this Servil (servile), which was how their grandfather used to call the grapes from the parcel.
Sometimes a bit overrated, this wine is the living proof that Jumilla can offer great wines with an amazing price quality ratio.
